Cover-up tattoos in Brighton
Old tattoos and scars, transformed into new artwork
A fresh chapter
Turn a tattoo you regret into one you love
A good cover-up isn’t just a dark patch over the old tattoo. It’s a new design that uses shape, shading and colour to hide what’s underneath, so the finished piece reads as its own artwork.
James also tattoos over scars, using flowing designs like flowers, feathers and leaves to soften and disguise them.
How it works
- Send clear photos of the old tattoo or scar with your booking request.

Cover-up FAQs
Can any tattoo be covered?
Most can, but it depends on how dark, large and dense the old tattoo is. The new design usually needs to be bigger and darker in places. James will be honest about what will work at your consultation.
Do I need laser first?
Sometimes a few sessions of laser fading make a much better cover-up possible, especially for very dark or heavy tattoos. James will tell you if he thinks it would help.
Can you tattoo over scars?
Often, yes, once the scar is fully healed and settled, usually at least 6 to 12 months. Raised or very fresh scars may not be suitable. Send photos and James will advise.
