Artist. Illustrator. Tattooist.

James Robinson is a Brighton tattoo artist with a BA in Illustration, and he brings that training to every tattoo. Coming from a fine art background, he studied perspective, lighting and colour theory, and his attention to detail and composition runs through all his work.

He loves flowers, animals, skeletons and birds, and combines them into detailed compositions designed for each client. His palette is natural and soft: mustard yellows, muted greens, dusty pinks, creams and pastel blues.

James opened Gilded Cage on St James Street in 2014. Under the name Gilded Cage Tattoo Artist, he continues that work centred on his own tattoos and illustration.
